Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year!
On behalf of your MCEA Leadership Team, “Thank You” for your contributions over the past year to your students, your schools and your communities.
As you recall, last year (2016 – 2017) MCEA experienced a series of new beginnings: a new address, new workshop topics, a new venture (a bi-county, overnight workshop), and new opportunities for members to learn, grow, participate and share. I am proud to report that members participated in record numbers!
This year we plan to continue along the journey that our respective careers direct.
The MCEA is a liaison to local affiliates and members for resources, materials and trainings, and acts as a contact to local and state affiliates. Our mission is clear: to represent and advocate the interests of our members and to serve as a governance structure within NJEA-NEA. Know that MCEA – our Officers, Committee Chairpersons, the Representative Council and Delegate Assembly members – are proud to represent you, to serve you and to advocate for you.
We are off to a great start for 2017-2018!
Many of our locals were represented at the NJEA Summer Leadership Conference in August. Participants engaged in in-depth training sessions designed to enhance local leaders’ skills in representing their members. Topics included grievance processing, collective bargaining, PERC law, health benefits and pensions, legal issues, treasurer’s training, salary guides, social media, etc. Extensive networking opportunities were afforded to all attendees.
As you look over the 2017-2018 MCEA Calendar of Events, you are sure to find opportunities in which “YOU” will have the opportunity to participate in. MCEA provides a variety of workshops throughout the year to enhance our member’s skills as well as social events to promote unity within our association. Plan to join us!
Every new school year presents changes and its own set of challenges. Surely the 2017-2018 year will not be an exception. MCEA is here to help you address the changes and meet the challenges. Committees, workshops, activities, and conferences have been designed with “YOU” in mind. Know your MCEA membership is an invaluable resource. Access it!
Be active! Keep informed! Know MCEA is here for you!
Have a great year!
